HEALTH CANADA RECALLS AND SAFETY ALERTS

March 2026 Update (select link for further information)

Safe Sleep Week

March 9-13 marks Canada’s annual Safe Sleep Week campaign to promote infant safe sleep. Promotion of safe sleep practices continues to be important as, unfortunately, preventable, sleep-related infant deaths and injuries are still being reported in Canada. Parents and caregivers may not always recognize the risks involved in unsafe sleep environments.

The theme for Safe Sleep Week 2026 is Safe sleep – Everywhere baby sleeps with this messaging for parents and caregivers:

Whether you’re a parent or guardian, grandparent, babysitter, sibling or daycare provider, your role is essential in creating and maintaining a safe sleep environment for each baby in your care. Every nap and every night counts. Make every sleep a safe one.

Find printable posters, shareable social media content, and key messages supporting this year’s theme by visiting the Safe Sleep Week campaign page.

Safety Tip of the Week

Out for a stroll?

Help keep your child safe by buckling up the restraint system and making sure they are seated properly.

Don’t use pillows or blankets as padding as they can cause suffocation.

Items of interest

Rear-facing seats, front-facing seats, booster seats... not sure which one is right for your child? Car seat stages depend on height and weight. Check the labels on the seat when shopping to find out if the seat is appropriate for your child’s weight and height.
